This post was supposed to be a glorious unboxing of my first Beretta 92/M9... a M9A4... after inspecting it after disassembly it's now a "how do I get this fixed" post.
I've never seen a slide so poorly machined. I would barely consider the machining on this acceptable on a $200 Taurus, much less a $1000 Beretta. This is supposed to be military grade and but I'm not sure that the US Army would have accepted the sort of garbage they're sending out from Tennessee.
I was planning on shooting this today, but after looking at the inside I'm not putting a single round through it until I talk to Beretta. I've already registered the gun and put in a service request. I think for something like this nothing short of a new slide is acceptable... although I'm afraid I'll be told this is 'only cosmetic' and to suck it up.
Anyone have experience with this sort of thing? I've heard Beretta's customer service is underwhelming.
Oddly, the exterior is pretty minty. The interior is a whole 'nother can of worms, though.

The good news? My order was listed as having 10 rd magazines but I ended up with 18 round mags.

Appeared to be the 10 round magazine version in the listing but had the MPN (manufacturer product number) reflecting it was the standard version with 18 rounders.
I kind of assumed that the MPN was incorrect, because they agreed to ship the item to Colorado (background: CO is limited in capacity to 15 rounds if you didn't own the mags prior to 2013... although the enforcement is non-existent and has been called 'unenforceable' most out of state dealers will refuse to ship any magazines beyond 15 rounds to the state and many FFLs will refuse to accept them... meanwhile many of the local gun stores carry 20, 30, 40, 100 round magazines for sale... although at significantly inflated prices)
