Your P99 looks a lot like mine, except for the importer markings on the right-front of the slide flat. For forum viewing, I have found that 720x540 size works the best. Here's the medium-resolution(720x540) versions of mine:
Does it rotate back before it moves? As catbird pointed out mine isn't as curved and when pulled it rotates to unlock so the end moves appox 1/4 inch back leaving even less of a curve forward.
Thanks for the tip....a quick trip back through The Gimp and they're ready to go. I get spoiled by my 1600x1200 display and forget to resize bigger images like that
Also, Dr. Lunde, what kind of digital camera did you use to take those pictures? Your pictures seem much more clear than mine, maybe lighting, I'm not sure. I am using a Sony DSC-S85.
I can see that your camera can take nice photos, and it's really only lighting, exposure, and focus control that is needed to make them better than they already are.
I have added a small section to the end of my "Pistol Wallpaper Page" that provides a half-dozen or so digital photography tips. This change should go live late tonight, or at the latest, by tomorrow morning.
Wow, My German P99 is also an AC and our serial numbers are not too far appart, 4158 but my markings are much different than yours. My "Walther P99" is laser etched and the "Smith and Wesson" on the right front of the slide is stamped with a rough texture to it and little to none white paint in the letters. I'll have to post a picture.
OK.....round #2. These are a little better, but I still need to muck with my lighting situation. Rather than link directly to the images in the forum, I'm gonna provide a link to the page containing my new pictures.
Looking really good! The upper-left photo is suffering just a tad from too much shadows. I like using my kitchen, because I have wide overhead fluourescent lights that are diffuse, and minimize shadows.
