I was an idiot and dry fired my Modell 5. Sure enough, I see this piece of metal fly out the barrel. Upon finding the metal, I knew immediately I broke the firing pin.

I've got a few emails into the usual suspects who carry parts. Hopefully I'll hear back from them on Monday and will be able to get a replacement.

I was just wondering if anyone else has had this happen and either "welded" the pin back together or made a new one?

Thanks,

Devin

Don't feel too bad. It happens.

Can you post a pic ? I wouldn't think it would be such a complex shape that a new one couldn't be fabricated.

Anyone know if it might be possible to weld the skinny part of the pin back onto the fat part of the pin?

It might be possible to find a welder who does electric welding and who can work on small items. However, consider that a weld leaves a metal scar that on a firing pin would have to be a braided to smooth. By the time you pay for all that labor you would likely be better off getting a custom precision parts maker to machine a new one.
