Eyeing one up at LGS. I like the looks of the M1, and I think it is high $300 range. Some of the draw is the “unobtainium” part. But... hard to justify when I can buy a new LE PPS for less than three bulls delivered. Some M1s go pretty cheap on GB.

Any problems with these?

I cannot attest to the qaulity of the M1s for sale where you have found them but I can attest to the M1 as the best rifle I ever used. I marines on mt M1 in boot camp and Infantry Training Regiment. The I was issued a M14. That was replaced with an M16.

All I can say is that I never encountered a situation where the M1 failed no matter what the conditions it was in. I cannot say that for the M14, and certainly not for the M16. If I had to be reliant on a rifle, I would want it to be an M1. I never met a Marine who was assigned an M1 as a primary weapon who had a bad thing to say about it.

Easily made mistake, but OP, here in the Walther PPS forum, is asking about Walther PPS M1, with the ambi mag release and accessory rail, as opposed to the M2 with the button mag release and no rail. Not the M1 Garand rifle. If you can find one of those for sale in the $300s jump on it... 😉
I paid -nominally- $300 for my 2013 PPS M1 a few years ago, and it was still in mint condition. Like, it looked unfired and uncarried. Guess the previous owner didn't care for the looks or the mag release. Or how sharp the trigger guard is. Oh well, their loss. I traded in my KelTec P11 on it which was my work horse handgun for a decade, got most of my original purchase price for it and was out only $60 cash. Got a fantastic handgun for it which brought me to the world of modern Walthers. Already had 1942 P.38 which I still love to take to the range every now and then.

When I saw "M1" in the title this was my first thought as well!

I will make it a little bit more specific now. Local shop has to PPSM1 that I can pick up for $325 but no box and 4 magazines and I would say the condition is pretty good, but not great. I would jump all over it if it condition was better but am contemplating it now. It is a 2013 model and the nightsights still have a little glow to them but I would likely replace them anyway. Any problems with this period of PPS?

Well, since this IS the PPS section, and not the "other guns" area ;)

Decent deal for a Classic PPS (real talk for the M1 bull****).

I have two, consisting of both calibers and love them.

The 9mm goes everywhere I do.

Roger. Bugs me cuz I can pick up a new PPS m2 for $30 less on line. But, I do like paddles (as long as the large backstrap is on) and even like the looks and texture better. Can you buy extra backstraps?

Some of the AJ serials in 2013 had an issue that was fixed under recall. Don't remember what it was but mine didn't have that issue.
The night sights are easily replaced. I paid $60 for a set of Mepros and installed them myself.

Dunno if you can order the back straps from Walther. I haven't heard of any issue of them needing replacement.

i bought mine in june for 250 1 8rd 1 7rd and original case, condition relatively good been debating a long time about getting the slide coated cause minor holster wear.

2nd shot i ever fired out of it had a casing get stuck between breachface and slide and i think it was due to the cartridge i was using (some fmj that struggled fitting in the mag) now using sig jagged cut hp i think 147g i know they make a 115g but cant remember, flawless last few trips.

id buy it again and id probably buy it for more depending at other options i were looking at. i use to like button release but now i love the paddles over all mag release and its specifically cause this pps gen 1. tagua inside holster.. what else

it does seem to shoot low and to the left a drip though 😉

Most PPS M1's will have holster wear because they have been carried. Expect this. If you're seeing condition issues beyond holster wear, then take a deeper look.

At $325 for the pistol with 4 mags, it's a decent enough deal, as the mags, today, are hard to find … and they were always spendy.

If you're so-inclined due to acceptable condition/wear, offer $300 cash plus tax for it. That's a decent enough deal for you given the 4 mags, and your LGS may bite.

Sorry. It WAS $375. Offered $325 (no box, no extra backstraps). Consignment,

BD=13

I see plenty of mags for decent prices.

It was a trigger reset issue, mine had it. Mine's AJ3384.

Walther USA fixed it for free, sent it back with a free mag, patch, and couple other little goodies. Took em what..about a month or so, IIRC.

Been stupidly flawless since. Would buy another, and plan to, soon, while there are still cheap (300 dollar range or thereabouts) PPS Classics out there...

I've also got one in .40. Never had a lick of trouble.

One thing to check for...the guide rod/RSA. Mine warped on my 9mm. Not an issue, as I have a DPM kit for it. Just something to check out on a possibly higher mileage unit. ;)

Trigger didn’t reset?

Does Walther sell back straps? They aren’t on the site. Thanks.

Brian, what I do is look up the part numbers for the parts I want, call Walther and give em' the part numbers. I'd suggest doing the same. They'll either have it or they won't. If they don't, you can always give Earl a call.

Oh, and since the trigger doesn't reset, offer em' $250 for a gun that doesn't work. :D

The trigger resets on this used gun. I was replying to the post above that had a “trigger reset problem”. I was asking what the problem was.

If Walter doesn’t carry spare back straps on a gun that needs them to fire, this may be a clue to me about the classics future.

They actually had 2. The other had box, Truglos and 2 mags.

BUT it was a 09, and even though it looked a tad better and had better NS, I liked the barrel fit on this one and starting with more mags, etc.

Less than $350 OTD.

Might order the small BS from Walther and pick up some 7 rounders.

The Tru Dot NS work pretty well actually. I really like the looks. Goes with my P99s.
