Just picked up a P99 9mm KI (98- same as my HK!) date code, all black, all rollstamped, 200 rounds at the most fired through it. Interarms importing, non-split trigger. This thing is "mint." Got it for a steal also. The quality of the new P99's pale in comparison.

If it wasn't for that darn one gun a month law we have in the people's republic of California. I should have it in three weeks. I'm very happy.

Anyone else here have an older P99 9mm? Hows it holding up? I wonder if the older models are any more accurate than the newer ones?

Does that "someone" see a difference between his/her older P99 vs. the newer one's he/she might have.

I noticed the fit and finish to be a little nicer on the KI. Just wondering if it's just me or if anyone else noticed.

Dr. Lunde, since you have shot your 9mm next to your .40 how would you rate the 9? Big difference in muzzle lift / recoil? Which one do you prefer shooting?

Mine has the same import markings but I have the second generation trigger. Other than that, identical.

I noticed you have the small backstrap on. You shoot better with the small one? I have hands that are on the smaller side (I'm a short guy 5' 6", 160lbs) but felt like my trigger finger was crouding the trigger with the small strap.

I'll have to shoot it back-to-back at the range to see if it makes a difference for me.

Did you buy that new in '97? Looks nice! (don't care for the laser much though

The small backstrap just feels better.  Slightly better; to be honest I can hardly tell a difference.  I don't think it effected by shooting at all.

I took the laser off the gun.  It just didn't look right and I had no easy way to carry it concealed.   I shot amazing groups with the thing though and will drop the dough for the Laserdevices/Walther one and a new holster when I can afford it.

Bought it used about 6 months ago. It had < 500 rounds through it. I didn't know it was older or had unique features when I bought it. I really like it!

Very cool!

For me the small backstrap exaggerates the "bump" towards the bottom of the grip. The medium grip fills it out a bit more in my palm, distributing the felt recoil to a larger area. That’s just what I've noticed.
