I have been looking for a 9mm P99 with the anti-stress trigger configuration. I think I may have found one, but the dealer is out-of-state and doesn't know much about P99s. He is unable to confirm whether the trigger type is anti-stress or the equally acceptable pre-2004 traditional single action/double action.

I know this --
1) The gun is stamped "P99". Are all Double Action Only versions stamped "P99 DAO" and are all Quick Actions stamped "P99 QA"? If so, can I assume a gun stamped "P99" is a pre-2004 version that has the traditional single action/double (anti-stress) trigger.
2) The inside bottom edge of the trigger guard has the raised bump.
3) It is all black.
4) There is no date code on the bottom of the accessory rail.
5) The serial number is 001347.

So I need some expert help. Have I found the Anti stress or Single Action/Double action version I've been searching for or do I need to keep looking? Or do I need to ask more questions?

P99 only ..... most likely is DA/SA (making it a AS in new lingo)
the DAO were sold as P990 in pre 2004 models

the date code on the older Walthers was on the side of the frame by the closed rails see here

also if the dealer knows how a DA/SA works he should be able to tell you....
the QA are all stamped QA (though don't quote me) .... also if the "smaller" decock button on the QA is pressed (decocking the striker) after handcyling the slide you can not pull the trigger due to the striker not being precocked

might be a bit confusing.... but again the dealer should be able to tell you if it is a DA/SA by just "playing" with the gun a bit

Only pre-2004 models have the bump on the bottom of the trigger guard. Also on the pre-2004 models the accessory rail has a closed end. I believe all the pre-2004 models have AS triggers.

1) Pre-2004 DAO guns should be marked P990. P99 QA guns should be so marked. It is very easy to tell if it is a P99 with the DA/SA trigger - it will have a decocker on the slide that is about an inch long. The QA decocker is only about a quarter to 3/8 of an inch.

3) Good color

5) From the S/N, this sounds like a KH gun, it is a very low serial number. I would not be surprised if it had the split trigger. See http://www.gunfaqs.org/P99FAQ/VII/4.html

I kind of consider all of my guns as anti stress. I'm stressed, I go to the range and have fun. Then ta da! I'm not stressed any more!
