Went to the range/gun shop today and shot poorly... just an off day. BUT I saw a Colt 1911 collection on consignment. The seller hasn’t given a price yet. It’s a 4 gun set commemorating WW1 1917-1967. One gun issued each year. They all have matching serial numbers with a 2 letter suffix that differs indicating which battle they commemorate. All look unfired. 54B31581-3345-4D9D-B2F0-D63240C26995_1571776553147.jpg D84E70DE-4B2B-4F5F-8194-2BD6A6C95163_1571776524139.jpg 37229B70-7974-43DC-A7F4-F8CB7C542D45_1571776481575.jpg A14CD912-AEC4-4CA1-8327-D7CC644EF6BB_1571776452250.jpg

Very nice collection..

I'm sure there is some discount for purchasing the whole lot.., unfortunately though ,for them to keep their collector value they would have to remain in unfired condition..

Nice set

This is the "Belleau Wood", "Meuse Argonne", etc, set?
It's really a case of "it just depends". A local shop had the set an eon ago, and they finally went at a firesale price. Not sure that there is collector interest; there is a Colt forum that could tell you.
Depending on the price finally achieved, it might be a real collectors' item, or a cheap way to get a shooter. It just depends.

Most of the commemorative runs of weapons have value to a narrow range of people. Unfortunately, the interest in WWI items is pretty low generally in my experience. I think those might end up either going for a premium to one particular buyer or for a song (comparatively) if that one buyer isn't aware of them.

The D/FW Texas market is FLOODED with unfired "Collector" 1911s at this time. There are literally dozens with gold inlay and wood cases in the Gun Library at the Ft Worth Cabala's. Several other Gun Stores are displaying numerous examples here too.

It's a buyers market on these 1911s at this time.

Yes that’s the set. I searched online and found one set a little over $5000 which doesn’t seem bad at all. Another listing was a little over $12,000..... so like you said it’s hit or miss. Supposedly they went for $1000 when new.
