I just recently aquired an interarms ppks. The lettering on the slide appears to have gold writing. I was wondering if this was stock or someone had added this later. I was also wondering on what was used to create the gold lettering and how to restore it (if original). S/n 031730. Date on box 2/6 78 Catalog no. VAP 24401

It’s gold paint ... not OEM. If you must restore it Testor’s model paint works fine. For best results degrease the slide, rubbing alcohol will do. Apply paint, rub off excess, then let dry before applying your favorite oil.

Another "quick & temporary" method is to use a gold colored crayon to fill the lettering. (Some people have been know to use a white crayon on the blued steel model.) Just rub the crayon into the lettering and rub the excess off. No fuss and no mess.

It's not everyone's taste, but the above advice is well taken.
