You hacked up your Grandfather's gun? A historical gun at that and now have a revolver with a scratch as a front sight?

I can't imagine it's shooting very accurately for you now.

I think you have a few of options.

You can cut a dovetail into the existing barrel and install a new sight into the dovetail. The problem is, it's a skinny barrel and there isn't much metal to work with.

You can still find 2" barrels for these guns that include a front sight and everything. Check Numrich to see if they have a barrel that will fit.

You can buy a barrel blank from Douglas or Clark Custom Guns and then build the barrel you want.

Tacobender. There is a forum called smith-wessonforum.com.

There is a subforum there dedicated to pre-1961 Smith revolvers.

You might someone there with first-hand experience replacing the barrel on one of these old guns.

I'm not kicking you out of here. I hope you stick around. I'm just saying you are more likely to encounter someone there that's done a barrel replacement on one of these old guns.
