Is there a way to tell when a P22 was made, meaning before the adjustments were made by the company?

I've read that the older ones had a lot of problems, that the letters "AD" in the serial number mean 2003, and only to use A mags.

Is any of this true? Reliability is a must! Are the newer ones better?

The "AD" is actually on the ejection slide/barrel.
mine came with two 265-93-44-A clips "the better ones"

the newer P22's have "Smith & Wesson Springfield, MA" on the shooters right side.

The only problem I'm aware of were the magazines. The newer ones have the letter "A" in the part number. If you have the older ones S&W will exchange them for nothing.

Finally got the P22.

It has the letters "AE" which I assume means 2004? Does anyone know?

It also came with 2 "A" mags.

Yes, It is a 2004 model.

A = 0
B = 1
C = 2
D = 3
E = 4

Congrats, we want a range report ASAP
