I'm probably in the minority, but I prefer blended Scotch Whiskey. Tried Single Malts, Irish, and I always go back to blended...I guess I'm a cheap date!

I would guess you're part of a large majority. Single Malt is not for everyone.

My late father was a scotch fan. Several varieties. I could never acquire a taste for it. But I'll whiskey and rocks with you any day. Or a dry gin martini. Cheers!

Nothing wrong with a blend. There are some pretty pricey ones too.

Personally, I'm more of a beer snob, tho' some buddies are into single malts.

I was partial to Glenfiddich and Jameson, but I seldom drink the hard stuff any more. Make mine a tall glass of stout, porter or a good double bock.

If you don't like it right away, Scotch is a taste you have to work at to acquire. When you do it is so worth it.

I am but a simple man. Grew up on Red Label and that's what I like. I smoke cigars but never mix the two. Don't like to alter the taste of either one.

There is a bourbon that I like (Belle Meade - both Sherry cask and Cognac cask), but I'm mostly a Scotch drinker - all single malts and mostly Speysides. Macallan 18 is what I drink most but not a lot of restaurants have it, so as a backup I also like the Balvenie 12, Glennmorangie 18, and the Aberlour14. Most upscale restaurants and bars have at least one of those. Always a double and one single clear 2 1/4 inch ice cube. Interestingly, it's harder to find a bar that has clear sphere ice balls than one that carries the Macallan 18.

We have a tiny crafted cocktail bar in our little town (pop. under 30k) that has both cube and spherical ice, most of the scotches mentioned, and about $30k of spirits on hand. More importantly, the barmen really know what they are doing. It is hard NOT to go there, although the wife and I only treat ourselves to it about once every two weeks. I'm mostly bourbon now, and will probably pour a little Henry McKenna 10yr. or Old Forester 1920 a little later here at home. Still working on that acclamation to scotch. Maybe it will come to me in the future.
