another outstanding job on the disassembly of the P5...all of the time and effort that you take to do these disassemblies is greatly appreciated!

P5 Locking Block

Unlike my P1 and P4, my P5 locking block is not spring-loaded but appears to be held in with a pin viewable through a witness hole on the front mount. Tanfo's photos suggest a straight-forward removal of the locking block. I am unable to reproduce his results.

Can someone point out my error?

P5, IH date code. My apologies at the start for the poor quality of the images below.

Barrel assembly. I raise it up to clear the barrel but the Locking Block moves only a short distance side to side as if something is holding it in place.



The mount that hold the block in place has a witness hole, perhaps 6 or 7 mm deep, and there is something in there, I thought perhaps a pin.



Here is an image with flash. It is possible to see that something is in there.
