I have found a small handgun during a house clearance and wonder if you could help me identify it.
It has the serial number 556222 and is marked Walther patent no.9.
I would be grateful for any information you might be able to give me on its origin, history, specification and value if any.

Many thanks

A Walther Model 9 is a design that pre-dates the Walther PP/PPK series. A mostly 7.65 Browning calibre firearm IIRC. Depending upon condition of metal and grips value could range up to $900. Look for the Crown over N proof markings.

Thanks for reply.

Have found image of gun on net. Click on link and scroll down to find model 9. Definately what I've found:
www.cruffler.com/historic-march00.html

Does that help you in giving me an idea of it's value?

Would anyone be interested in purchasing it?

Where and how could I sell it? I live in UK.

If you can't locate those proof marks, watch for a re-blue. They may have been polished right off while prepping the gun.

If it's a reblue, it's lost half it's value.

Forum,
If you are still in the UK, what you have in your possesion could get you into big trouble. Call a solicitor, or just lose it.

Importing firearms into the U.S. requires an importers license, which would have to state where it was coming from.
