H&R Reising M60....Should I????

1707 Views 10 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Jimbo80
An opportunity has come up for me to get a rather rare Model 60 at a more than fair price and am trying to decide whether or not to pull the trigger on the deal. Anyone have any experience or insight on the gun?

The worst designed gun, and one of the worst made guns I've ever owned was an H&R Reising M50 SMG.

Please explain why a Model 60 should be any better...

They didn't have a sparkling rep, and I do see them at the gun shows for less money than than other select-fire arms.
Be patient with me; the difference between the 50 and 60?

50 is select fire 60 is Semi

I'd never seen a Reising before this thread. For those that haven't there is an interesting article here:

With such limited production the M60s are rarely seen by anyone. They are in fact much rarer than the M50. Prior to the ban they were of equal value.

I can make some pretty good coin if I buy this gun and flip it right away. The only thing keeping me from getting it is my record of not selling stuff. I am afraid of ending up with a close to $2K POS.

I run into this issue, myself. If you're not certain you'll flip it and you're also not sure you'll want to live with it, then my advice is not to buy it.

After deciding it wasn't worth the risk that I couldn't flip the Reising really quickly which would lead to adding it to the collection I passed. Sure would have liked to shoot it.
Reread (the other) Moon's article; it doesn't mention quite how the Reisings worked. Did they fire from an open breech?

Closed bolt. Forgotten Guns does a good field strip video.
I ended up partnering up with a co worker and picked up the Reising today. With a co owner there's less chance I'll keep it myself. It's in beautiful condition and is a low 700 serial number. We took it to the range today and fired a few rounds. It's very accurate and recoil is almost non existent. Pic coming soon.
