Fwiw Wikipedia isn’t a reliable source of information anymore (was it ever?). Even Jimmy Wales (founder) agrees. It spun out of control a while ago and it’s gatekept pretty hardcore by a small handful of “editors” who hold the keys of what gets passed as reality and factual on the internet. Sort of like Snopes

Also, Tim from MAC isn’t a shill. He’s one of the GOA leaders in Indiana and does a lot for 2A; isn’t just some guntuber collecting sponsorships
Tim is a member of this forum, though I haven't seen him around in a while.

BTW, this wouldn't have a decocker on it would it...
I find it very interesting the German SF's have adopted the Walther PDP. But how many will they purchase, just to outfit their SF's VS the balance of their Military? Most likely less than 5,000 since their Sf units, & support staff are small compared to the total German military. Most SF units worldwide have different budgets compared to their counterparts in total military personal. So, justifying the purchase price for the elite units is different, including getting the best pistol money can buy, & passing the requirements established by the units concerned. Looking at the model that was chosen, it is duked up for a warrior in mind, & added optics to complete the package. I would bet the trigger, & other internals are better than a civilian stock PDP model. Either way it would be nice if Walther down the road introduced a civilian model to commemorate the Military SF Model, with optics included. That would leave all of us trying to justify purchasing one.

From the article sited at the top of this thread, the contract looks to be for 6500 service pistols, plus another 1200 designated as "training" pistols.

Contract also includes parts, service and some inert "dummy" or "blue" guns.

Looks like an Aimpoint Acro directly mounted to the slide.

Interestingly, Walther was selling a special run of Acro cut slides to the US Market.

A silencer for the pistols was also part of the contract but I've seen nothing yet as to who's silencer Walther used or if it was of their own design.

I think there is still the CCW pistol contract for their special forces, that supposedly a separate contract from the one just awarded. Hopefully, Walther is competing for that too! I am curious about the trigger specifics.

Separate contract, one that HK already has in the bag by all accounts.

Thefirearmblog has a short article and a few photos about the new Walther German Special Forces pictures.

Walther needs to offer a civilian version to commemorate The German SF model with included mounted optics. That would leave a lot of us figuring out which weapons need to go for the new addition, or save up the funds to own one?

Same gun except for color and optic. The optic they chose isn't much different just more expensive.
I'm sure that's mostly true.

The SF gun is cut to direct cut for a specific optic.

Sights are set up for that combo.

I think the magwell is different.

It thinknit migjt be set up to be used in a maritime environment.

Those things might not be important or practical for you.

To most it will be a collectible more than anything.

To each their own.
