For those of you interested on how these look, XS was kind enough to email me a picture. I think I'm going to try them out. From what I was told the rear sight is made to work with factory height front sights, which means it may work with the mepro front I have on now.

I'll post a range report once I try them out.

Is that a pic of the std. dot or the big dot?
I've been considering the XS sights for about the last 5 months or so, still haven't decided.
I like them on my Kahr Mk9 (XS 24/7 Big Dot), but I'm concerned about 30 yard + accuracy on my 6" steel plates, with my P99.
Anybody have XS Standard Dot 24/7 on a full size service pistol? what kind of accuracy are you getting at 30+ yards?

Thats the big dot front sight. I'm going with the standard size front sight, personaly.

I also question the accuracy of 30+ yards but it can't be much worse than the Mepro sight picture. I really hate how much space there is between the front blade and the rear cut-out.

Don't get me wrong, the Mepro's are a great combat night sight and they are really bright, I just want to try these out for the heck of it.

My Trijicons have a big gap when aligned as well.
But 6" plates at 35 to 50 yards 1 shot per second, are a 85%+ hit for me with them, I'm not sure the XS would give near that performance. Let me know how you like them, I'm not ready for a $130 experiment.

My HK sights along with SIG sights seem more accurate at a distance. I'm by far more accurate with my P99/Mepro's up to 20 yards.

I'm talking about the sight picture. When you line up the front sight to the rear sight there is a noticable gap on either side of the front blade (left and right), where most other sights I have on other guns, the front sight fits snug between the rear sight notch with minimal spacing.

Basically, the rear notch is bigger on the P99 sights that I've seen, including the factory sights.

Obviously, everyone has their own personal preferences, but I really like a lot of gap around the front sight blade and the rear sight notch. Maybe it's just my old eyes; I seem to be able to obtain a more precise sight picture with more gap. This is one reason why I like the Heinie Slant Pro Straight Eight sights so much...the front blade is thinner than the Meprolights or Trijicons. For me, the more gap, the better.

BTW, I have the XS sights (big dot) on my Kahr P40. They're nice for getting off a quick shot at fairly close range.

My CZ-75 has a very nice tight sight picture, out beyond 30 yards, it is the easiest to shoot nice groups with.
My Kahr Mk9, is worthless past 30 yards anyway, so the XS Big Dots are awesome on it, allowing extremely quick shots that are adequate for the distances required.
My P99, with its "sloppy" sight picture, is fairly fast, fairly accurate inside 30, but drops off past 30 yards. Especially in right to left shot dispersion, my elevation is consistent, but there is too much slop for accurate right/left.
IMO.
The reason I'm looking at the XS sights, is because the P99 is my CCW pistol, and realistically even a 30 yard shot would be a less than 1% possibility. And the XS sights are much faster inside 15 than any other sight, and out to 30 would not give up too much to the sloppy Trijicons.
But #### I hate to give up "bragging rights" on those 50 yard 6" plate shots.

I couldn't agree with you more! I have the same problem, left to right dispersion (usually left), elevation always on the money.

I've read some articles that say they noticed no difference in 30+ yard shooting vs. traditional 3 dot sights, then others say there terrible. The only way I'll find out is if I try them myself.

Tell you what, if they dont work for me I'll offer you a good deal on them. Then you won't have any doubts, and you wouldn't have to pay full price!

I'm in, if you like them, let me know and i'll order my own set, if you don't i'll take them off your hands, try them myself, and if I don't like them, i'll sell them to anybody else that wants to try them.

I'm also interested to see how snugly they fit the rear dovetail. My Trijicons are a very loose fit, I've had no problems but it is rather disconcerting. The Meps are a much better fit on my wifes P99QA.
If they fit the dovetail like the Meps do, that would be a big bonus.

I've had 24/7 sights on my sigs and a colt defender.  They work fine for defensive shooting 9' to 21' as they were designed.  For all practical purposes using your weapon beyond the 21' distance say 30' to 75' the law would more than likley feel you are not in imminent danger of you life to justify using your weapon.  The 24/7 big dot sights are just more difficult to use at that range as a defensive shot.  Not to mention any justification of defensive shooting at that distance.  For what it's worth I've replaced my 24/7 with the orginal sights.  Looking to put Mepro on my P99.  By the way I carry my P99 instead of my Sig 228, but I would trust my life with either weapon.  Just my 2cents.

Better to have it and not need it, than the other way around.
I get plenty good hits inside 21' just using a "flash" sight picture, the option to make precision shots at extended range is good to have.
Where I live, extended range is a definate possibility, and even though I usually have a rifle in the truck, there is the possibility of having to fight my way back to the truck with just a pistol.
Desert country, near the border with Mexico, on a popular drug "highway", you get a whole different definition of "imminent danger" and "justified shooting".

NM I get what your saying. I live in Indiana but have a condo in Cottonwood, AZ. Spend the winter out there. What your saying can make sense. For that my rifle is my best bet. Here in Indiana close up is more likely what will happen. I do have an Arizona ccw permit however, though I rarely take my rifle with me, my P99 is a constant companion.

How are they working out for you CKW?
I'm thinking about getting a set, and was wondering how you liked them.

Unfortunately it never happened. When I ordered them a month ago they forgot to tell me they didn't have any in stock. I called asking where my sights were a week after the order, they told me it would be about a week longer. A month later they kept giving me the run around so I cancelled the order. I'll stick with the Meps and put the money towards a SD barrel or something.
