It is a Walther TP (Taschen Pistole - pocketpistol is the neglish word for it)
yours was proofed in 1968 and might have been one of the last ones to make it into the country as they could no longer be imported after 1968..... also the more known TPH (Walther and Interarms made those) was a sibbling to the TP

The slide has been refinished at some point in the pistol's life, and it doesn't appear to have been a professional job, either. Your little Walther is a collectible piece but that collector's value is almost destroyed by that refinishing job.

I concur. That jumped out at me in the first picture right off.

Still, a nice shooter.

Aw, c'mon, don't be cruel. That's like telling him that his new girl friend has a mustache.

He just wanted to know the model number, not its value.

6.35mm.

I didn't mean to rain on his parade, but to a collector, something like that stands out immediately.

It's still a nice pistol.

He didn't say why he wanted to know the model number, Mike, and one valid reason for identifying an item is to research resale value.
If you think volunteering this information is cruel, I'm OK with that. Besides, I think we're dealing with an adult here. I'd wager that he can take it.
