How many rounds can it be expected to fire?

I know German police shot 5,000 rounds for the test, I want to know the upper limit.

Also, once the barrel is shot through, are there many replacement barrels available?

Problem with P-5/38 system is that the underlug locking assembly is far more complicated that 1911 system, so it won't be as easy as 1911 barrels to fabricate.

Of course you realize that you are asking questions that there is simply no answer to? Please ignore the above answers as I was just guessing... Just guessing like any other poster who responds to unanswerable questions.

FWIW I can tell you with reasonable accuracy that my surplus P5 has had approximately 150 rounds fired thru it since I bought it. The German Government did not give me a fired round count before it was sold as surplus.

Happy Fathers Day if you qualify. :D

Best Wishes,
