I'm not a happy camper right now, I just got back from the range with my new PPS after the 67th round it froze, the slide is locked up and cannot be closed. I can insert and remove all mags but the slide release cannot release the slide. Up til that point I had no problems whatsoever. The 67th round locked the slide back. I used the slide release, everything ok, next shot same thing, next shot slide locked and unable to release the slide. Slide is frozen and I am unable to release it. Two other cops at the range unable to release. I have never seen anything like this. I guess I will have to wait till Monday to call S&W. Up till then it was smooth and accurate.

Do me a favor and check the back strap just for shits and giggles. I am wondering if the "safety" broke or something similar. Also I think S&W/Walther America is open on Saturdays try giving them a call.

Thanks for the advice but I checked the backstrap and that wasn't the problem. I just got done looking it over and noticed that the slide release doesn't seem to be acting correctly when I look internally through the ejection port. Also, I noticed that my finish is peeling quite a bit more which is a complete shame. I will call S&W tomorrow if open, thanks again.

The small spring which holds the slide release has slipped . What has happened to your PPS has happened to a number of other new owners and even one very well known trainer !
It is a quick fix and may be due to incorrect installation of the spring.

Don't despair, that's why we shoot at least 250rds before we carry a weapon.
Once they replace the spring you should have a good trouble free pistol. Mine has well over a thousand rounds fired without a single failure
