We recently got a PPK/s, and I am trying to date it. It's an Interarms made in W Germany. My understanding is that it was made between 68-82, and that the serial numbers do not indicate more precise dating. Is this true, or can you date it by the serial number?

German guns have the year stamped on the barrel in the ejection port.[66 etc. =1966]
Newer German guns have a date code[letters] stamped near the ejection port.[ HI= 78 or 1978.]
