At the CES show in Las Vegas, a Linux-controlled rifle aiming system was debuted:

No doubt the military will be interested in TrackingPoint's system, and if the price comes down and the system could be miniaturized enough, I bet it could be adapted to handguns, too.
I'm usually all for technology, but like cars with anti-lane-departure and parallel-parking systems, I think that sometimes technology takes a lot of the fun and pride away from possessing the human skill to operate a machine.
Yes, I'm one of those people that still prefers a manual transmission in a car.
