I have tried to post some pictures using the "manage attachments" function (same as in the tutorial), but haven't had any success. Every time I try, it says "Upload of file failed". The file format is .jpg, and I have tried to resize down to 800x600 to see if that would make a difference. It's the same uploader I have used for years on other forums, but I just can't make it work on this forum. Do you need to have so many posts before you can upload pictures, or what's going on?

I'd like to confirm the file size of your image, and your browser and device

According to all site settings you should be able to add images. Have your attempts been in a specific section? Can you try in this one?

I'm on a PC, Win 10 and Chrome. I just tried to post a picture here (jpg 1200x900, 220 KB) and the upload failed. Resized to 800x600, tried again and the upload failed.

Testing

Can't recreate any error still and those details are well within requirements

Does your Chrome browser have any extra plugins with it? Such as an adblocker?

I did, still won't work. I can post pictures on other vBulletin forums, so I don't know what the problem could be. And just to be clear: I'm trying to do it through the "paperclip" button, which is how I do it on other forums.

No matter what the browser you are getting the same errors? There is nothing about your account that should be blocking you from being able to post an image here.

Correct, same problem with Chrome, IE and Firefox. Just to make sure I'm not missing something obvious, this is what I do:

1: Hit the "paper clip" button
2: Use the "Choose File" buttons to pick the pictures from my hard drive
3: Hit "upload"

It appears to be uploading for a second or two, them I get the error message "Upload of file failed". It's acting like when you try to upload a file that's too big or the wrong format, so I have checked the size and also tried to save .jpeg to .jpg and .bmp to see if it makes a difference.

Again, I'm a member of several vBulletin forums and the procedure above has always worked. Is there any other way of doing it?

You can host the images on another site and use the image insert tool. I am not sure why its not allowing you to post yet. The site will see a software update in the new year (i dont have an ETA on the update) It will solve this for sure.

You're wasting too much time trying to get this to work. It's time to consider something easier, like using a hosting site, such as Imgur.com. Its free and so easy to use, I'm sure Bart Simpson could do it.

Open up an account on Imgur. Upload your pictures then use the link under the heading BBCode (message boards & forums) to paste into your post.

Here's a link I copied and pasted........easy, peazy.

This is only an example......and I'm sure there's a Walther in there somewhere.
