That's a good question.....he could have been or maybe catholic
Ulm's population is mostly lutheran... the cathedral with its highest single standing steeple at 161 meters (530 feet) is "lutheran" built although it was fincaned by the people of Ulm and not the church itself.....
however since Carl Walther was not born in Ulm but in "East Germany" I am not sure.....
