On the left side of the slide:
P1 Kal 9mm
3/78 followed by a 4 -point star then a space and 812

On the left side of the frame:
059804W 11.74 followed by a circle with a dot in the middle

On the right side of the slide and frame:
2 proof marks on each. (see attached pic)

The serial number suggests it was built late 50's early 60's. The W 11/74 indicates it was refurbished in Nov. '74. The slide is not original and was manufactured in 1978.

Indeed. Many of the Bundeswehr pistols were refurbished so often and thoroughly that for all practical purposes they're parts guns. Guns with three different St. Wendel date stamps are around.

As a shooter, in terms of expected durability, treat the gun as if it were as old as the oldest major part, in this case apparently the frame.
