I've found a P99, black w/ 3 mags & night sights for $450. Seems to have seen few rounds, but has some minimal holster wear. What should I be looking to avoid or look for before I give my Yes to the deal?

If its a .40 make sure its 100% German.

1) All the usual stuff including but not limited to barrel & muzzle crown, feed ramp, the frame in general for stress or drop cracks.
2) Check the frame where the slide contacts the entire length both sides (remove slide for this inspection). Sometimes the polymer can get burred or roughened.
3) Ejector claw, intact, or worn/chipped?
4) it would be nice to get all the front sight blades & backstraps with it

I'm sure there are other things to look for, but I'll leave that for the others to point out.

Also check to make sure the decocker works properly.
Place a pencil into the barrel from the muzzle after making sure and checking the gun is no loaded.
The hit the decocker. If the pencil stays put, your in good shape.
If it hits the ceiling..run like the wind.
