I'm not sure if it's a 16 or 17 round magazine that I have here for my father's old Hi-Power knock off, but like the Beretta magazines, the browning Hi-Power magazines seem to fit in the P99 fine. Of course you will need to cut a new magazine catch notch/hole and cut out an area to make room for the slide lock. I'm not sure if they will function and cycle correctly, but they seem to fit just fine (they do extend a little outside the grip however).

I'm pretty sure they won't engage the slide lock properly because they use a different type of follower (but perhaps a P99 follower would work?) , but they would be great for plinking and range use if they worked. Has anybody else tried this?

There's a company mass producing these, actually.  Dunno who, though.  ;-)  And you're right, they don't hold the slide back, and the mag spring is very weak as compared to a real MecGar.

Just my 2 cents.
