I was interested in finding the highest grain 22 round for my P22, but I don't want to damage the breech with a round that is too powerful for the design of the gun.

So, what's the highest grain round for the P22?

I don't know if there is a max grain spec'd, but
I use CCI Stingers & Velocitors regularly.
Have you tried those?

I have tried Stingers, and love them. I have a box of Velicitors, but haven't shot them yet. What can I expect from the Vels versus the Stingers?

I was looking at some exotic 22LR, about 60 grains. Dunno, those Stingers sure are a lot of fun...

The Aguila SSS are 60grainers and my P22 5" bbl (German) shoots them just fine.

For best accuracy, I reform the SSS with Paco Kelly's acu'rzr/nastinose tool.

They shoot nose-straight. No keyholeing or tumbling.

And what a punch!
