I am going out to the range this weekend and I decided to try some Blazer Brass.  I bought one box of 180gr. 40 S&W and one box of 115gr. 9mm from Wal-Mart today.  I opened the 9mm box and found that almost half of the bullets have black spots all over them.  I was not happy, so then I opened the .40 box.  The .40s do not have any black spots on the bullets.  In both boxes, the casings looked pretty dull, and the bullets had littles dings and dents in them.

I decided to buy the Blazer Brass because I had heard they were a decent practice ammo, and cleaner than normal WWB target ammo.

Did I just get a bad box of 9mm?  Are the little dings and dents in the bullet normal?  I was just wondering because the WWB I have used look to be much "shinier" than the Blazer Brass.

Also, has anyone had experience with the regular Blazer?  I just wanted to know how the aluminum case performed.  I don't reload, so if the regular Blazers are clean firing, I might use those instead, since the bullets in the regular Blazer boxes I looked at are smoother and shinier than the Blazer Brass as well.

Of course I could always buy more WWB too, but recently the WWB I have been buying has been pretty dirty.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know about the brass but the aluminum case blazer 9mm I use primarily dosen't have any black spots on it. It is a dull copper on the bullet. It's quite hot and very clean. I went through 800 rounds one range trip and didn't need to clean the gun buy the looks of it. Then I blew 1 box of WWB and definatley needed a scub after. Won't be buying any more WWB if I've got a choice.

I have a Steyr M9 that is very finichy about cheap ammo, but it loves Blazer Aluminium. My P99c doesnt mind it either. As a bounus the stuff is lighter so my range bag doesnt weigh as much, nor does shipping on it.

I contacted CCI and they are going to replace my box of ammo. I just have to ship it back to them. Also they are going to include extra product to cover my shipping charges. Sweet!

That's awesome. Incidently, I found out that Blazer aluminum is non-reloadable, not because of the aluminum casing, but rather because of the primer/pocket.

I have shot 3k of 9mm and 2k of .40 in my P99s. It all looked perfect and functioned perfect.

Werid i find the CCI 40cal to be more dirty then the WWB...Also mine had blk spots all over it...

I too had a situation where I recieved several boxes of defective CCI Blazer ammo. They wanted the ammo back--since it was extremely dangerous to fire. The heads of the bullets were pushed deep into the casings. Increased pressures could have blown up a gun.

Yeah, they also promised extra ammo to cover shipping.
What they did is send me ONE extra box of ammo for my troubles !! Worth about $7.50 Sure it covered the actual shipping charges, but hardly worth my time and gas money--packing and shipping the one box of ammo back.

I will never do that again...........for a company that produces millions of rds every year..........I hope that were able to part with that $7.50 box {retail } probably cost them $2 actual, without severe economic damage.

I did them a huge favor......pointing out a run of ammo that might have serious problems and they in effect said it was worth $2 to them. Live and learn.

Just updating what is going on with CCI regarding my "black spotted" Blazer Brass.

This is part of the e-mail I recently received from CCI:

"I took a look at them and was surprised to see the extremely obvious black spots you mentioned in your original e-mail. I have forwarded the ammo to our Quality Assurance Department for their evaluation.

In the meantime, I have requisitioned 150 rounds of replacement ammo to be shipped to you. Thank you very much for shipping these in to us. I am curious as to the cause myself, we'll let you know what we find."

Now I am just waiting for my 150 rounds to arrive.
