Just picked up my brand new 9mm P99 from the dealer and he mentioned to ensure that the lube in the chamber (especially near the striker) is cleaned up before firing the first shot.

What other 'before-the-first-shot' procedures or to-dos need to be done (other than reading the manual)?

Field strip, clean off any comsoline that may have been left. It is much thicker than lube and can cause the pistol to malfunction.
Lube the slide contact points and go shoot that thing.
