I was cleaning my S&W blued PPK today and was surprised to see bad scratches on the inside of the slide, just forward of the ejection port to the front of the slide. It goes in a type of half moon track.

I wonder, is it from assembly/disassembly, firing or both? Is it normal?

This is my pistol of this type, it has been uterly reliable and accurate with all loads. Today I tried the Speer Gold Dot.....pistol loved the Gold Dot round.

Thanks for the help!!

I haven't taken my blued PPK apart yet, but I'm about due. If I find similar marks I'll post back.

By your description I'd assume it wouldn't hinder functionality, but I wonder if the exposed metal would be more prone to corrosion.
