I purchased my SW99 in an internet auction. What im wondering is what are the links to internet auction sites that deal with high quality collector firearms? I know auctionarms and gunbroker have categories for collectable and antiques but I'm more interested in checking out a more upscale firearm site the deals with very expensive rare firearms(sothebys of firearms so to speak) I have heard that some of the WW1 lugers sell in the six figure range. Id like to learn more about the collectable market.

There is a "upscale" auction place mentioned on the P38 forum all the time.......but the name slipps my mind right now...

FWIW.... you have a lot of surcharges when auctioning there.... and some items are plain overpriced since some people will/can overpay a certain item ....
If you have a collectable gun you want to sell... you might get lucky geting big money... but to buy from one of those places is just not for us "mortals" IMHO.....
also many items are just not described correctly .... go to the P38 forum and ask there or do a search....
in recent history I recall at least 2 P38's being not correct and not worth the price.....
I do also recall a P38K being sold there for over $2000.... and then a few months later one turned up for sale on the forum for $1500 with no surcharge of auction... and then one turned up on Gunbroker that also went for $1500..... so that alone shows you that just the "upscale auction place" made somebody a good profit... and I don't think it is seller that got the money since the auction place wants to be payed too.....

Well this all is based on observation and personal opinion...
but I would do some research on it....
