I guess I'm missing a big piece of the picture here...

How would any piece in the trigger system make the first SA shot different from the rest? Once you enter the SA mode, I can't imagine that one shot would be different than the rest.

When you say "hump" are you talking about take up on the trigger action? It's not clear to me what phenomenon you're describing.

I'm at a bit of a disadvantage because I don't have my P99 yet (the wait is killing me!) but I'm trying to understand the difference you're describing.

Thanks!

Wow...you were right and I was completely wrong. I looked at the Walther site and the chart they have posted of the trigger pull for each of the various models. The first SA pull on the AS is twice as long as the second (and subsequent) shots. That's got to be an interesting piece of engineering! It looks like the "hump" you're describing corresponds to the travel point for the second plus shot -- which would be halfway back. Interesting...

I understand why they did it -- to give you an extra "safety" in the heat of the moment. I've never had to fire for real, but I'm willing to bet that once the adrenaline kicks in, that extra .315 inches of travel won't be much of a speed bump to me getting the round out!

Thanks for the info, Hal!
