Was just wondering if anyone shoots cast bullets in their P99?? Just was wondering besides bullet shape, are there any other concerns with cast in this handgun?

I don't think the rifling is polygon in the P99.

But, U can still get lead buildup over time.

I have 1 rule - No reloads. No RELOADS

I had a Glock barrel blow up on me in 1995 from someone's crappy reloads.

Never again.

2 years ago, someone saw me shooting my Beretta 92 at the range - they wanted to try and offered to use their ammo. I saw it was remanufactured rounds... I wouldn't let the stuff near my gun...

The P99 has normal lands and groves and is not poly like Glock.

I agee with Ship, in that I will not shoot reloads in my pistols. My revolvers is another story.

I use cast bullets from time to time. Mostly 147 gr LRN. I use it when I shoot steel. I prefer the jacketed bullets but some ranges I visit that have steel targets will only allow lead. Lead build up is no problem if you clean you pistol after shooting, which I do. The P99 does not have polygon rifling so shooting lead is no big deal.

I concur with Shipwreck (Well to a point). I too had a pistol blow up on me do to bad reloads from a friend. After that I got into reloading for myself. Hard lesson to learn, destroyed the gun but thankfully I was not hurt. I do not shoot anyone else's reloads. That is why I reload my own. Have been doing so for about 20 yrs and no problems.

Thanks for the input, guys. Heck no, I would NEVER shoot anyone else's reloads...only my own. Being kinda' paranoid, I have always kept loads well under max...

I shoot Laser_Cast through mine. They work really well in both my 9mm and .40's.

If you are shooting castings I suggest picking up a second barrel. The only way to clean a barrel of lead that I know of is ultrasonic.

I shoot cast exclusively through my Ruger .45Colts. If you take an old bore brush and wrap a piece cut from a copper pot scrubber(ie. chore boy) around it; it works like magic on getting lead out quick.

Good to know. I know Hoppies makes a lead removing compound as well, which I would probably fill the barrel and leave it.
