I had a wonderful P99 that I bought in 2003 IIRC, sadly, I sold it in 2005. It was obviously the old style, but I really liked the trigger. I remember that once it was cocked, you could sorta pre-set the trigger (pressing lightly until it clicked) and this would give you a VERY short and light trigger....if you pressed the decocker, it went into a DA-like long pull. Moving the slide back like 1/8" or so put it back into the mode where you could "pre-set" the trigger.

My question is, are the new P99 models like this (excluding the QA variants of course)?

Depending on which one you have yes they will work. I know the anti stress trigger one does and yes I have both and can verify that.
