Orv Reichert looked at this one long ago and really thought I had a nice one. A real crisp byf44 E/L Police, gun looks like it wasn't fired hardly at all. I'm thinking it's a $3,000 gun?

Nice looking Mauser though am slightly confused with the S/N as there in no letter code to the RHS as well only 2 acceptance stamps on the LHS, maybe I'm missing some knowledge here - it happens. Attached are some snaps of my byf 43 for comparison. It's a very used and worn example though shoots fine...

Because it is a Police contract gun. Note the Eagle L. Letter suffix's only came after the first 9999 pistols made.
