In the original box, or in the magazine.

Some I have in some Army surplus ammo cans in the garage, some I have on the bookshelf that's in the closet in my den.

The best and cheapest ammo storage container is the old War surplus Ammo Cans. They are air tight and very sturdy.
I can buy them at gun shows around here for $6.00 a can---the 50 cal type containers.

Most pistol ammo: You can fit 1,000 rds into one can.....maybe shy a couple of boxes.

The reason I like them so much is the Air tight seal........keeps your ammo from humidity. When you are buying---- check the lids for the rubber gasket and make sure it is in good shape.

Well, my plinking 9mm is in the box from when I bought a case of ammo, my JHP is loaded in mags, ammo cans of .308 and 5.56 next to the sardine cans of 7.62x54R stacked in my closet, and 1/2 of a can that I opened in a tupperwear box in my closet, the other 1/2 is an a .308 ammo can. I hope my appartment building dosen't catch fire...
