Got a chance to pick up what looks like an OLD PP in.32. Eagle over N proofmarks on slide and barrel. Gun appears to have 80% original nickel with replacement grips. Blue book says some wartime nickel finishes though rare, were made. Serial # 17572XP. (X is last # in serial #, P being only alpha) Any info from you Walther Gentlemen? Thanks.

Not sure about the rest of it but that Eagle over the N is most likley the Nitro Proof Mark. Just means that it can take the higher powder pressures of the day.

Popeye,

Looks like you have an early 1940's pistol. A person could special order one in Nickel, silver or gold plating, so yes, you probably have a somewhat rare one.

Are there any other distinguishing marks on it?
