I just got a new P99 QA and noticed the slide and the barrel have quite a bit of sideways play in them (very firm up and down). If I hold the gun firmly, I can move it around easily with my other hand so much that I would probably be a foot off @ <5 yards. Also, when I pick it up and shake it, the slide rattles a lot. Is this normal? There is no wear on the inside of the slide rails.

Mine does the same thing until I put the magazine in, then it's rock solid. No problems with it's accuracy either... My well shot Sig P226 does the same thing, although I'd rather them to not rattle, if it means the type of reliability I've grown to expect, I'll gladly take the rattle...

If it really bothers you, you might want to contact S&W. It sounds like it rattles more than any of mine, but that does not necessarily make mine better than yours. All it means to me is mine don't rattle as much as yours... Yours could be inherently more accurate or more reliable, who knows?

If it was me, and the gun shot good and reliable, I'd keep it the way it is...
