Is the Walther bipod/accessory rail propretary?

I bought an aftermarket bipod for my Walther KKM - but when I tried to attach it to the rifle, it just didn't fit. This bipod is the type which is supposed to fit most target rifles like Aschuntz etc..

The problem seems to be that the part which slides into the rail is too thick and doesn't fit.

It looks like this:

Afaik Walther used a pre-UIT rail that is shorter and blued with a larger keyhole-like opening at one end. UIT rails were standardized.

Thanks for the tip.

I found this

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/UIT_rail

The rail I have is very similar in dimensions, but instead of square, it is tapered on the bottom. I think I may be able to file the edges and make it work.

I managed to take a small file and modify the contour of the UIT rail to fit my Walther KKM - thanks for the help! The Walther rail is tapered on the inside. It took a bit of filing and patience, but works in the end.
