My local dealer says yes all PPS come from Germany but Im not so sure. They charge $600ish.

The person are Earls Repair shop says that the PPS is stamped S&W but the ones he imports do not.

He would not elaborate but suggested I call S&W for the details.

The First Editions he sells for $1095 I believe.

ANYONE? have any details.

the smith&wesson markings are the import markings they have to put on the gun..... Earl's has to mark his guns also as the importer

Right - I ordered some PPS mags from Earl and asked him about his price for an all black PPS, I think he told me $795. Since the PPS's are all made in Germany, it comes down to whose roll mark would you rather have on the slide and how much is that worth to you. I'm fine with mine reading "S&W" for $200 less. ;)

I can't edit my post. There's a graphic on the side but I don't know what it means. It looks like a rosette with an N under it, the letters AH, and what looks like an elk horn. Then there's the serial number. That's all.

LOCATE A PPS FOR ME PLEASE

I can not locate one in CT. If anyone knows where one is available that can send to an FFL in CT let me know.

Earl said he will have them in about 2 weeks at $899

Thats seems like quite a premium for it not to say S&W but he seems to make you feel they are two different animals regardless of what S&W says.

HMMMMMMM

Any suggestions?

Earl is known for making all sorts of claims like that. I think the money tells the full story but if you wanted you could email the good people in germany and ask them if they sabotage the pps's destined for s&w, make them with zinc instead of carbon steel, or throw puppies into the frame making machine. :D

Hi Barb! Imagine running into you over here instead of on the S&W Forum! I'm glad you came to share your new PPS.

Does yours have the Smith & Wesson markings on the right, front of the PPS's slide?

DOH! I feel like a dummy. It does say "Smith & Wesson Springfield, MA" etched on the front of the barrel. I didn't realize that was the import mark!

I guess I'm so used to seeing "Smith & Wesson" I don't even realize it anymore.

The "rosette" with the N is a mark indicating the gun uses nitrocellulose based powder. The stag horn symbol indicates the gun was proofed at the Ulm, Germany proof house (also used by Heckler & Koch). The "AH" is the date code, indicating it was produced in 2007.
