Now there is a thread that took a sudden and ugly turn.

An unnecessary turn in my view and not up to the usual standards of civility found on this forum.

And that's all I have to say about that.

Again, he is the quintessential Cliff Claven internet dork.. The know-it-all insufferable troll who HAS to get into arguments over his supreme opinion.
And now he has locked on and will troll you at every turn. Everyone has opinions but he has to ram them down people's throats.
That pretty much sums it up. I think I looked up his stats here and he has over 8,000 posts and yet has only started 34 discussions of his own.

For those interested and wish to learn from my successes and mistakes, I took the gun to the range today and as others have reported, the gun did not cycle properly initially. But after a few rounds, worked like a champ. With the TiN coating it cleans very easily. I used no chemicals....just took a cloth and swabs to it. I think the slide was $80 to coat. Depending on how much you shoot, it seems initially to be a good investment. First the slide will look much nicer and I saved a good 20 mins just after one range use. I guess time will tell.

The added lubricity TIN provides is intriguing. I like the idea of being able to just wipe the gun down.

I think you made a comment to the effect the TIN treatment "is forever". Wear is the bugaboo of most finishes, aftermarket or factory.

Is that something TIN is known for? Durability and wear?

TIN is new to me. I don't know much of anything about it but am always looking to learn.

Ok. I found some good online descriptions. Pretty interesting. Materials science continues to move forward.

An advantage is supposed to be longevity for sure.

I like it. The top end anyway. Not crazy about the Mag extension though. May just be the picture but it looks like sorta yellow plastic? But to each his own. I have the same vortex venom on my Q5. Good think you didn't gold tin that. That would have been too much!

The slide looks great. The barrel and mag extension look a little loud to me but then I'm an older dude.

Im curious how it wears and if it functions as expected over the long haul.

There is aways room for better coatings in the firearms world.

I am not thrilled with the mag extension. The mag well I am changing out for a black one.

Pictures to follow.

I like having different color mag extensions just to keep track.
