Whether or not they're being "discontinued" is immaterial. They're good guns. I just picked up my 2nd ppk/s 22 from the Academy. Paid $299.99 + TTL out the door.

I bought one last week for $240. Date code is BJ= 2019.
I'd say the 2019 rumor they were being discontinued was false!
After 50 rounds of cheap Remington Thunderbolt, only one fail-to-load. I shoot it as well or maybe a bit better than my other 22, a CZ P-07 with .22 kit.

Took delivery of my new PPK/S yesterday; Date Code BK. Only had time for a few mags full, but so far it has been flawless with a mix of Federal, Remington and Winchester bulk. As this is only a plinker for me, I only shoot it single action, which feels fine. I will be painting the front site to help my old eyes find it, but would drop the coin in a heartbeat if a better sight set were available. I'll probably check grips4u.net periodically to see if I can catch their walnut grip panels in-stock.

If it is still running this well after a few hundred rounds, it will be hard not to a nickel-plated sister if current prices hold or drop (mince was $249 shipped; I seen some advertised at $219).

It's nice to see that they were manufactured too in 2019. Until today, I had only ever heard of last year's models with a BJ coded proof. My PPK/S from 2013 is still very reliable when fired with the intended type of ammunition. I can't say that of all my .22lr pistols. The only real pain are its really hard to see sights if there are no optimal lighting conditions.

Do the sights of the BK models still look the same? Does anybody know if the guns from the second run (2017 and newer) feature any improvements?

Yes, the sights are still the plain, black plastic others have lamented over.

I can’t speak to any improvements, as this is the first I’ve seen in person. I do know mine is very tight-fitting, and everything but the sights look outstanding for the price paid.

I certainly understand the “authentic” mindset behind these, but this pistol would be amazing if it were dehorned and had better sights.

You can improve the '..sight picture..' of the stock sights of the PPK/S by painting the rear slope of the front sight white/bright color...and painting narrow/fine vertical '..stripes..' on either side of the rear sight aperture (as you might expect, a fine artist's brush and a steady hand is required).

OR....SHARPIE manufactures '..Oil-Based Paint Markers..' in Fine and Extra-Fine tips in White and a few other high-visibility colors

That is my plan (although I’ve got to figure out what I did with my paint, first 🤦🏼<img ) src="https://www.waltherforums.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Wink" class="inlineimg" />

P.S....

In the event that it has escaped notice...this thread was begun nearly FOUR(4) years ago, in April **2016**.

It's now January 2020 and the UMAREX/WALTHER PPK/S .22 is STILL in production.

And sooner or later the premise will be true...
