Interarms PPK/S Hammer Problem

I have an Interarms PPK/S,380,S.S. that when you fire, the hammer sometimes falls after the round is fired. The pistol chambers, fires, extracts, ejects perfectly. It does not do this with every round.I replaced the Hammer Block Spring and Recoil Spring.I am using one original and one new Walther magazine. It makes no difference on ammo,I have used FMJ and HP.The pistol is 98%,both inside and out. This happens sometimes on the first round fired and sometimes further in the magazine.I can still pull the trigger and it operates correctly. This is making me crazier than I already am.I need help from the experts.Thank you.

Limp wristing can cause this, weak ammo can cause this....hammer not being pressed quite far enough rearward in order for the sear to catch......or, you can read this thread where all of this is discussed and the new spring on the hammer block was the problem. M1911

Nobody reads the FAQs.

Read it and then put the original recoil spring back in. Replacing it is probably making it worse.

No,I read all the FAQ's,used both the old and new recoil spring,I do not limp wrist(I made sure of that)and I have used Rem.both FMJ and HP,Amer.Eagle,Fiocchi,Win. and I still have the problem. It's puzzling to me and I thought someone would have advice.Thank you.

I found that the problem on my pistol was something I would have never been able to determine by careful visual inspection, wear inspection, even using a micrometer to measure old parts vs new. I guess this is why gunsmiths are able to make a living. Would M&M be a good contact for this pistol? I have one just like yours colt.....mine works fine. Anything I can picture or measure for you? I would check the hammer spring.

Actually, that's a thought. If a previous owner tried to lighten the DA pull by clipping the spring...

You should find it closed and ground on both ends.

I'd like the explanation for where you guys are going with this. Why the mainspring? Hammer bouncing, not rebounding fast enough, what? M1911
