That's over Colt Python prices here in El Paso. Recently helped a friend of mine snag a very good one on consignment here. I told him what to counter on the asking price, and he got it when the owner came back at $1,850.

Am I good or what?

I got a note from the seller in response to my congratulating him on making a mint on this. He said he's skeptical he'll be paid as he's had a rash of non payment lately.

It's up to $7.5k.

That's the risk of absurdly high hammer prices. When the buyer finally comes to his senses (or is told by his friends what an idiot he was), he defaults.

I wonder if the seller is nontheless on the hook for the seller's premium?
