Sad WWII PP

I rescued this fairly rare1940 FFV "Reichsfinanzverwaltung” (Reich Finance Administration), marked PP today. Someone it seemed decided it didn't need its bluing anymore and took a wire brush or steel wool to it I am debating having it engraved in the period engraving style and refinished, since its value is pretty much shot anyway.

Here are some pics

Even with it's bluing and value scraped away like pond moss of a dock, it's still a beauty.

I'd have no problem owning it, refinishing it, and carrying it, let alone shooting it occasionally.

He can likely do a great job getting her to look close to original. Lots of us swear by him. It would be interesting to see if he could restore your sad PP to some of its former glory.

Keep us posted please...

You might want to give Mike a call. He's been slow to check his emails of late.

It's a credit to the PP's design that it still looks good even in that condition, imho anyway.

Second the recommendation to use Mike to refinish. Once you've decided to go that route, he's one of the best. He re-blued my '36 PPK and I'm floored by the quality every time I look at it.

I appreciate all the input and I have decided to send it to Earl. I will advise as to how it turns out.

Thanks again

It's back, and I am going to hold my tongue on how I feel about it until I get the group feedback. I do not wish to taint the pool....Promises that it would look like new and they had every stamp to replace anything that was buffed
