I get flamed for this here but I carry my '36 PPK 7.65 every day. It's far and away the most reliable (read 100%) of my generally very reliable PP-series guns.

I have used 380 critical defense, power ball, Winchester silver bullets, and civil defense in both of my PP and PPK with no problems. I carried one or the other since 1980 until last year, before that a 7.65 PPK. I decide I would like to keep them and not loose them to the police. If I ever had to use one of them. So I now carry a Sig P238 in 380. It would be easier to replace the Sig than a PP or PPK.

Like it has already been said by Searcher . You just have to try them and see which one works best in your PPK/S. If the HP doesn't work well. You might also try the FMJ flat nose. It will hit with a lot more authority, than a just a FMJ round.

If you carry more than one magazine. Then you will have to try them all in each of the magazines. Just to make sure that they are also reliable. It can be expensive, but fun trying to find the best round.

I frequently carry my PPK/S in .380 ACP and don't feel as though I'm undercalibered. The pistol is stone-cold reliable, and that goes a long way in my book.

I have used a few different .380 in my PPK/S, but I switched to these a year or so back based on some favorable reviews: 380 ACP 90gr HP/XTP *NEW* [P1380ACP90GRHP/XTPN50RDS] - $28.99 : Precision ONe Ammunition, Dont Shoot Twice Shoot Precision ONe

Like Searcher, I don't feel 'outgunned' for what I am asking the .380 to do.

Now this is the kind of endorsement I had hoped for. Thanks to everyone for their response.

I carry one of two PPKs S&Walthers in 380.
I load and you can read my posts to learn more.
Try different quality brands and find which is reliable.
Practice aiming, point and shoot , right and left hand and you're good to go.
Don't get hung up on HP vs FMJ vs FMJTC.
Shoot what works. If I carried factory ammo it would be FMJTC as close to 115gr as possible.
I live in the tropics and those pistols are for around town.

I use Buffalo Bore +p JHP or the flat nose hard cast lead (winter, for better Penetration)

They function flawlessly in my S&W. Not sure about an Interarms, you would have to run a few boxes and see.

I used to use Corbon DPX 80 Gr. and the Speer Gold Dots at 90 Gr. never had a problem with them.

A .380 is a real cartridge; it was always mentioned back in the day when the choices were a .38 snub or a PPK.
It ain't a death ray, tho', and, due respect, but I'd be leery of any 'out of spec' loads (harumphbuffaloboreharummph).
My objection with the PPK isn't the caliber; it's the abuse it subjects a gun to, and also the somewhat persnickety nature of our favorite gun in .380. A Glock 43 is no bigger, stone reliable, and a 9.

BTW, Sarge, I'm a reloader as well, but I've been schooled not to carry my reloads. In a social situation, the fact that you used reloaded ammo might be used against you in a court of law. This is Mas Ayoob talking, but it makes sense to me. BTW, I carry Gold Dots in other .380s; they have a good rep for both penetrating and expanding a bit.
