Pilk: Really good stones are a delight to work with. Would you please describe the ones you showed earlier in this thread: what type and grit, and obtained from whom?

Mike, you are indeed right. A properly functioning stone is a delight to work with. Seeing the metal emerging clean with the proper contour is a joy to hold. I have used a number of stones over the years, some are ratholed for special uses. But the pnes pictured are readily available and work well.

and since the one pictured are now shaped to PP or PPK slide copntours, they will stay that way since I expect it won" be last PPK project I will need them on. that might include the removing pits from the metal beforehand or maintaining the contours will gold inalys
halfmoonclip and 153 like this.

I would think you use stones with a rather "soft" grit binding for the contour work, correct?

Thank you. At least one of the three pictured in your first post appears about twice as thick in cross-section. What's that one?

I just reviewed the pics, everything shown is the same three that are in the link, I do have various stones, including a few of the elusive tam-o-shanter ones, with various special contours but these new ones artificially formulated seem to work well. a little harder to get to shape maybe, but once there work fine.

yes,

and another note, may I request that you add the author of your signature line Frederick Douglass to the quote. I am working on an article about the racism of all varieties that underlie gun control efforts and its import to keep the context of that quote in front of the wannabe banners.

Plus as an author I like to see attribution made when possible

and I now I see this thread weaving way off track of Chinese clones and beauty enhancements.

Sometimes you just need to buy a model airplane. The one onthe gun being depicted in green gold was flown by Art Chin, one of Chinaís aces in 1937 .
