Only the slide is ported. That's not barrel porting.
If you put an optic on it, you'll probably be required to shoot open. If you leave the iron sights on it, read as no optic, you can shoot limited or what ever they may call it (I'm USPSA).
NO! For IDPA it is fine for either SSP or ESP without the optic but would not be allowed at all with an optic - there is no open or optic division in IDPA.
For USPSA you can use it in any division except single stack with regular sights. With optics you can shoot it in Open division and perhaps in the new Production Optics division if it meets weight and size requirements dependent on what optic you put on it.
This is correct. However in local matches you may use optics, but you shoot "unclassified." There is no division and no IDPA points. You are still scored, however. My wife will be shooting her Q5 with a Vortex Viper that way.
You can shoot USPSA local matches in the "carry optics" division. I don't know their decision about the carry optics at other matches.
This is for Las Vegas IDPA and USPSA. I can't confirm if this is true for other local matches.
Per the USPSA website, Appendix D7, Carry Optics is a provisional division at this time.
Not many shooting in the division yet. We had one CO out of 38 shooters in today's match.
For those interested IDPA now has Provisional rules out for their Optic Division. This is a work in progress with nothing firmly in place....yet. It will be out soon.
From IDPA on January 17...
"There will be official announcements on a number of items, including Carry Optics, in the near future. We appreciate your patience until that time. Per our prior notifications to the membership, all official rules and communications will only be found only on the IDPA.com website and distributed by the IDPA electronic weekly newsletter, Tactical Brief, and on the only official IDPA facebook page, www.facebook.com/ShootIDPA/ "
Well all is official now and CO Division is a provisional Division. I am shooting CO in the WA State Match in August. I should be able to finish somewhere in the middle of the pack of think 8 shooters. I will have fun and get a chance to renew old acquaintances which makes the annual 15 hour trip south worth it.
Take Care
Bob
