I look at the PPX and wonder aloud what makes it special. I can't see the innovation. When I look at the PPS and P99c AS, I can spot the innovation and uniqueness but not with the PPX. Why didn't Walther try to come up with a new innovative gun? Perhaps we have reached a plateau for innovation in the industry. Companies like Sig Sauer know that and so that is why they expanded their offering with fancy looking grips and finishes... just make aesthetic changes until the next new design wave comes along.

You want a PPX? Here ya go, from a reliable reseller:
WALTHER PPX M1 9MM BLACK @ Sportsmans Outdoor Superstore:

I am patiently waiting to find a P99c AS, and also the 9MM ammo to feed it.:)

To each their own but the PPX for me is a tack driver, what a great trigger. I'm just as accurate with it as my Glock 17. It's one of those guns in which doesn't shoot as it look though some love the PPX look. I still think it looks odd from most angles but it is my HD handgun right now, it's in the rotation.

I just picked up my new PPX is 9mm today. I'm going to go shoot it tomorrow, but from an aesthetic perspective I'm actually I lot more pleased than I thought I was going to be. You would not think this is a 400 dollar gun. I still like my P99's and PPQ more, but its a heck of good price. I'll find out tomorrow for myself if it lives up at the range. In the end, that's the most important part.

I think the "reviewer" is a bit critical of it. Every thing he criticizes is personal opinion though.

The PPX is what it is... it was designed to be a cost effective gun. Is it as good as a $700 PPQ? no, bc the PPQ has better materials and more workmanship. Can it be an accurate, reliable, etc. gun for that price range... Yea, given Walther's history, I would guess so.

Finally if this gun flops, let's not forget that many "models" of products have failed from reputable manufactures.

The PPQ is $700? Local gun shop has NIB for $590 and Academy for $624..so after taxes, close I suppose.

I agree it's not quite as good as the PPQ and I'm still not sure why such a difference in looks, grip, trigger but I guess if not, you have a DAO PPQ. I don't have a PPQ but I brought my PPX in to compare, very close in craftsmanship IMO but that's just a quick over view. The PPQ seems to have set the standard in triggers but maybe the PPX will as well with DAO. I still can't believe how easy the PPX is to shoot and shoot accurately, especially given its high bore axis.

Saw a new P99 at Academy for $599 as well. Is that a good price?

There's a bunch of them, actually. I'd start with a nice Ruger Mark II .22 semi-auto. I got a used one recently for under $400, and it's an all-day love affair at the range. Still haven't seen a PPX. Must be moving them by wagon train westward. :)

It doesn't bother me at all that some guy wastes bandwidth to badmouth the PPX; at least he's seen it and held it. We've plenty of badmouthing going on right here from folks who have yet to touch one.

Yep, and the guy bad mouthing the PPX also drives a Yugo and loves it......go figure. I knew a guy once that had a Yugo......he was on a vacation and his electric fuel pump went out. And being your typical Yugo owner, he figured out that by hooking up a new 12 volt power source to the fuel pump, it'd actually work, so he removed the wire going to his horn and hooked it to the fuel pump. Then he had to honk his horn (continuously) while driving the last 750 miles.

I went to the range on sunday with my buddy who has a PPQ and I had my PPX. I was excited to compare the two. The PPQ is better looking in my opinion but I was a better shot with the PPX and my friend was about the same. He purchased his PPQ a while ago and was always telling me how great the trigger was on it. Well he loved the PPX trigger and we both agreed the PPX had less recoil (same ammo). I felt that the PPQ and the PPX are pretty close in performance and for about $150 less the PPX is a deal.

I'm not gonna lie I will not purchase a PPX and its mere existence makes it hard for me to appreciate the Walther brand a quality I love. It's a cheaper Walther I get it but there are plenty of cheap or budget guns on the market already and I don't know why Walther thought this was a good idea.

I purchased this gun specifically because it was in my budget for our first pistol. We put several different pistols in my and my wife's hands and we decided it was the best feeling and had the nicest trigger of the bunch.

I think I'm exactly the guy Wlather had in mind when they made this gun. Kudos for them.

Also, I put 50 rounds through it today without a hitch and wow, it's accurate.

I commented on this guys video and pretty much said that he should not post information to the masses without having done any real world testing, range time, research, ect. He's reviewing it in a gun shop where he probably held it for three minutes and thats the extent of his contact with this gun. He sent me a reply saying "f*** you." And he deleted my comment. I guess I embarrassed him. Everybody is entitled to their opinion, but don't post a video to the whole world and speak as if you have ANY actual information.

Funny world we live in.

Just pic a product you know nothing about, in an area you have no expertise in. Bash it on the internet, and people listen to you? Hopefully people take everything they hear/see on the internet with a grain of salt, and consider/research the source.

People should have some liability for what they say, but he is only stating his opinion, and we all know what that is worth.

Reminds me of that t.v. commercial with the girl dating the french model, because "you can't put it on the internet if it is not true" Ed

Funny people discrediting this persons video because he doesn't have any trigger time but yet I would bet less than half of the people in this thread do not own or haven't even held the PPX yet either.

I'm entitled to my opinion as well and I have my list of reasons why I don't like the PPX either.

Not a problem. Walther designed the PPX for a specific market or demographic, and I have no doubt that it'll be a Huge hit. One does not fit all, hence multiple offerings in pistol size, caliber, SA, DA etc. Walther had a hole in their line-up and they did their research and came up with a pistol to fit into that bracket....the PPX.

They also did their research and found they had a run away winner with the PPQ. However, it they wanted to appeal to the masses, they needed to put a button on it.....and they did. Smart move. Now, if they continue to offer the PPQ with a paddle mag release, that'll be a smarter move.
