A hint regarding forum searches

When looking for information on the Walther Forums, check out the Sticky threads first, and also visit the FAQ sections. The chances are good that the information you seek will be readily available.

But if you come up empty and need to run a search, you might try this:

Use Google or Bing or Yahoo or whatever search engine rings your bells rather than the search function on the forum. Just start your search with this

Walther forums: And then add whatever you are interested in here ...

... and let the machine work its magic. You will generally get better, faster results. It might look something like this:

Walther forums: pachmeyr grips for PPK

Happy hunting.

What's a sticky?

I'm a new guy here and I'd like to know what a Sticky is and where/how they originate. Sorry if this has been 'beat flat' somewhere else. Thanks for your patience.

When you clicked this forum you should have seen a whole list of items prefixed by Sticky: (topic name) For instance, the first three under the General Discussions forum are:

Sticky: Walther Customer Service: Please report your experience here
Sticky: Show us your Walther/Photo Thread
Sticky: New Link @ Walther: Lifetime warranty

That means the owners or moderators decided to place these items permanently at the top of the list for easy access because they contain often-accessed information.

Thanks!

So does each thread have an owner/moderator?

The forum has two active mods who share universal duties. The site's owners also drop by at times.

In addition to the previous method for searching specific locations, I've had good luck with the following:

pachmayr grips for PPK site:waltherforums.com

My favorite way to search this site is doing a standard Google search, but adding "waltherforums" to the search criteria as well. That seems much more effective than the search feature provided here.
